Vacation packages can be a little intimidating, however. Coming in all shapes, sizes and prices, packages are about as varied as they possibly could be. The sheer amount of choices available in packages can make a traveler’s head spin.
So, how does one find the best vacation packages? The answer is by following a few simple steps.
* Before shopping for packages, it’s very smart to decide a budget and destination or at least a few possible destinations first. If you don’t know where you want to go, you can’t find the best deal! Budget, too, is very important because you’ll want to shop packages within your range.
* Type of transportation. Do you want to go on a cruise? Fly? Drive? Packages can include a number of components, which can include rental cars, hotel lodging, food and more. Remember, when dealing with cruises, these typically are all-inclusive already. This means they include pretty much everything, including the lodging, food and entertainment in the main price. Extras like shopping excursions and so on might cost more, but the basics are all there.
* Details you want included in a package. Some travel agencies or travel sites that offer packages let customers tailor them to meet their needs. Package components can include such things as airfare, cruise costs, rental cars, food, entertainment and even sightseeing and guided tours. How much or how little is included in your package can be up to you. Sometimes it’s a good idea to shop package components separately and then included to see what the better deal is.
* Fine print. Make sure you understand any fine print included within a package. Is the package you’re booking nonrefundable? Is insurance included? Do you need to take care of any small details? Know what you’re buying before you click on the purchase button or sign on the dotted line.
* For those choosing cruises, it’s always good idea to check both directly with the cruise line and other routes of booking, such as travel agents or travel sites. Sometimes the cruise lines actually charge more to book directly with them. Odd, but true.
Vacation packages are a fantastic way to make sure all the details of a trip, or at least the ones that cause the most worry, are taken care of for you. They should also generally involve a price break. Since you’re paying for a lot at once, through one location, the pieces should come together and save you a little money.
Good packages take the worry of planning off the travelers and allow them to simply enjoy their time away. They can be as involved or as uninvolved as a traveler might want. No matter the destination, there’s likely to be a package trip available.

Are vacation packages to Mexico cheaper in the Summer months than during the Winter months?I'm hoping to travel to Mexico for a vacation this Summer using a "Last Minute" idea on, Redtag.ca, for example.
I'm trying to get an idea on budget and was hoping to find out if people have noticed vacation packages cheaper in the Summer than in the Winter.

you can obtain airline miles whenever you fly. If the yahoo travel package website doesn't allow you to enter your miles number, then you can always add your miles number at the departure counter before you fly. Don't forget as it is harder to add it after the flight…always do this before.
same with hotel points…you can always add your number at the hotel.

Hey, this is a serious issue… My Aunt died last week after traveling to mexico…She felt sick, not bad enough to go to the hospital. my cousin was going to get her medicine and when he returned she was dead. she didnt even look very sick…less than flu symptoms. she died very sudden and autopsy couldnt find out what caused it, but all evidence points to swine flu. she was 50 yrs old and healthy. she lived in Ohio, cincinnati. Please people pray for the victims family, she has 4 kids

Contrary to what most travel websites will tell you, you probably WONT save by combining air with hotel. You CAN save this way, but I've had better experience shopping around for airfare. In the west, Southwest and America West are dirt cheap usually. I've also found that picking lesser known hotels can be good too. For example Alexis Park is one of the most affordable (and luxurious…well, not Belagio luxurious, but still they have suites) that I've found in Vegas. Didn't even know it was there until I went there for a convetion.
Yes, fuel and labor cost effect the total cost of travel packages
I pay $250 a year for ocean front 10th floor in Puerto Vallarta. $500 for airfare. Don't think I could find that anywhere else in a vacation package!

hey everyone stop traveling to mexico because a little part of mexico has a couple of people that caught the cold. Do people think mexico is a tiny little piece of land where theres like 60 people with donkeys and cactuses and they are all sick? It’s like saying that los angeles got an upgraded flu and on the news they say the united states flu is spreading rampantly. who allows the newscasters to scare people like that? maybe the president should control that better.
Try Gol airlines web pages (www.voegol.com) or Aerolojeas Argentinas web pages. I usually check LanChile's web page for fabulous packages (www.lan.com). Lan is usually a bit more expensive but when they have special packages and deals no one can beat their prices. I have always flown to Rio and Buenos Aires in Lan.
I and others believe that someone literally created the Hog Shot for whatever reasons they may have. Perhaps a terrroist act or the republicans trying to kill off the Mexican population to control it.
