Many travelers dream to travel to a foreign country. However, the soaring prices of international flights scare them and they drop the idea to visit a tourist destination abroad. The times have changed now. The increasing popularity of the tourist attractions spread across the world has led to a strong competition among the travel services companies who offer cheap flight tickets. You can plan a vacation to Rome, Paris, London, Shanghai, Beijing or any other place of the world because you can easily book flight tickets online.
Internet has opened the gateway to book online tickets and sitting in the comfort of your home you can search for flights to your destination and also compare prices of different airlines. Usually the travel sites that offer cheap international flight tickets are powered with advanced software which enables you to enter the destination name, time and date of travel to display a long list of international flights. In order to pick the cheapest international flight, you have to know some tricks of when cheap tickets are offered.
The airfare of international flight tickets change daily. You need to keep a watch regularly by browsing through the net and reading the reviews, following the blogs and collecting travel information from different travel sites. As there are so many sites you can easily get all the information readily available in the internet. You can in fact sign up with a good travel site or subscribe to their newsletter to get the airfares direct to your mail box.
Once you enhance your skills to find cheap international airfare, you can know when exactly the price falls. You will be able to bargain for the cheapest flight deals by knowing at what time you can get cheap tickets. Traveling at odd time can reduce the airfare and also in the off seasons you can avail such offers. However, you have to be vigilant enough in finding when prices fall and when you can book cheap international flights.
Some airlines offer cheap tickets on some special days of the week but do not advertise about it. You have to keep track of these offers and plan your trip accordingly. Also the time when you call to book a ticket is important because after midnight the first call is usually given a discount. You have to therefore try calling just after 12 pm to book cheap international flight tickets. This happens because the airlines update their computerized ticket booking system in the midnight on a daily basis.
You should also try not to book international flights at weekends. Usually many travelers book their tickets in the week ends. If you want discount tickets then you should go for some other day of the week other than week ends. Therefore to avail cheapest flight deals you have to consider the time when you purchase your ticket.

Take a look at Amadeus. It uses the same tools that most travel agents have available to them when they are setting up flights for their clients.

i think it is cheaper when it is through a LEGIT TRAVEL AGENCY because you can get a package deal that is much cheaper.. but it is not bad if you compare especially with PAL because they have website where you could get possible info…

Sometimes Expedia, otherwise read the newspaper! =)

P.S. Type this question in google. It works!

According to travelocity, you can fly for $1220 on those dates with Continental with a change in Newark.
You could fly to Amsterdam with a change in Memphis on Northwest for $1014, then the train to Cologne is just a few hours and would definitely be less than $200 rt.
New O. to London is $1221, so that's out on those dates.
On ZOOM, you can fly from New York to London for $723, but the return would have to be July 6 or july 4; they don't fly on the 5th. but New Orleans to NYC doesn't look so cheap on those days, like over $300, and then you'd have to get to Cologne.
I checked AirBerlin too, and they fly from NYC to Dusseldorf or Miami to Dusseldorf (about 35 minutes from cologne), but it looks like it would be over a thousand and you'd still have to get from N.O. to NY or MIA>
I'd say go for Amsterdam. You can get the train tickets for about 48 euros roundtrip amsterdam to Cologne.
Go to this site and search From "Amsterdam Centraal" to "Keulen" (that's cologne in Dutch). You can get a quick 20 minute train from the amsterdam airport to Amsterdam centraal for about 3 euros.

The cheapest I could find was $388 with all taxes, etc…

uctwithme.com, click "book travel online"

hope this helps!

go to a travel agent, they can get you better rates.

A few years ago my bf's family moved back to Sweden from the US and they also found that round-trip tickets were cheaper. They just bought the round trip ticket and discarded the return half once they got home.

Nothing happens.

Hmm, a departure city would help.

For cheapest, it all depends on when and what airline(s).

I could think of EasyJet, Ryan Air or German Wings to get to London, and take Air Transat, sometimes Air Transat have very cheap fares on sale.

But other than that, I do not know. I always ring up travel agencies (local) to compare prices, and once I find the cheapest, I grab it.

There are websites that I found that may be useful:

http://www.ltu.com/world/ but it goes to Vancouver, from what I can see (it's way west)

http://www.lufthansa.com/ (think it's expensive, but give it a shot)

You can also try: http://www.britishairways.com/

Hope this helps.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: http://bmhbb.info/fxy3 and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online… otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
