I have always found cheaper fares from travel agents. I've had better luck with them than internet sites.

I had luck buying tickets off of skyauction.com You might also try buying frequent flyer miles from someone who doesn't use them. I bought a roundtrip ticket to Italy for $300 that way. I bought them from an E&Y executive who travelled heavily for work. The last thing he wanted to do in his free time was get on an airplane. The best thing to do there is ask family and friends if they know anyone who travels a lot for work. Good Luck!

I've got a little travel blog. Use the Kayak search bar on the right side and you will find the cheapest flight. Buying as early as posible is the best idea as prices only will go up! Try using Kayak to search different cities and such. Searching London– Santiago on April 3 and returning April 13 I got a price of: 679
Searching March 15-25 I got: 644
Going from Barcelona I got: 567

Best bet is to get on all the budget airline email newsletters. EasyJet, Bmi Baby, Flybe, Ryanair (sooner you than me!) etc.
Decide where you would like to go and what times etc. so you are ready to strike instantly!
As soon as they release their summer schedules there will be some excellent bargains. Snap them up then (we did this year……)

Just last month I bought r/t airfare to Ukraine for under $1000 on Orbitz plus if you go through Orbitz you get a price assurance if anyone buys a ticket lower then you. You get a check in the mail.
